What We’re Looking For:
- Expertise and Experience: All contributors must have proven competence in human rights or related fields (such as international law, humanitarian aid, social justice, etc.). Please include your credentials, professional experiences, and any other relevant information when you submit.
- Original Content: We only accept content that is original and not published elsewhere. Submissions must be thoroughly researched, fact-checked, and referenced appropriately.
- Relevance: All articles must pertain directly to human rights issues. This can include analyses of current events, deep dives into specific rights issues, profiles of notable figures in the field, or explorations of historical human rights topics.
- Tone and Style: While we seek to inform and educate, we also want our articles to be accessible and engaging. Please write in a clear, concise, and respectful tone. Avoid jargon when possible, explaining any necessary technical terms.
Submission Guidelines:
- Article Length: Submissions should be between 800 and 1500 words. We’re looking for comprehensive yet succinct articles that engage and inform our readers without overwhelming them.
- Formatting: Please submit your article in Microsoft Word or Google Docs format. Use clear headings and subheadings, and keep paragraphs to a reasonable length.
- Biography and Photo: Include a brief bio (up to 100 words) and a professional photograph of yourself. Your bio should highlight your expertise and experience in the field of human rights.
- Citations and References: Ensure all claims and factual statements are supported by credible sources. Use footnotes for citations where necessary.
- Editing: Jella Journal reserves the right to edit submissions for clarity, length, and style. Significant changes will be reviewed with the author prior to publication.
